Taronga Zoo Sketching

Sketching at Taronga Zoo is one of my favourite Sydney things to do solo. Yes, I could just take my camera, but I don't. The chance to sit calmly and watch the animals also allows me to see some things perhaps tourists in a rush miss out on, be it the elderly stretched neck of a giant tortoise or a mother gorilla and her suckling baby. In case you are wondering, yes, the emu did sit just like this an pose for over half an hour. Several even people asked me as I sketched how I got it to sit still!

Return from Mexico and Cuba

After 6 weeks traveling in Mexico and Cuba, I am working on a series of paintings inspired by the people (mainly mother's), colours and textures I came across. The countries are both rich in artistic food for thought.
